Laughter and Family Vacation
The title of this post really doesn’t begin to touch upon all the great aspects of family vacation, such as eating delicious food, having tantalizing dinner conversations, enjoying drinks in the Jacuzzi, watching the kids boogie board and build sandcastles, hearing interesting family histories, and playing some truly competitive games of Scattergories and Cranium. All good, don’t get me wrong.
However, some of the funniest moments are the inside jokes and the reminiscing that goes on as we hang out. Topics of conversation included The Fonz, Tiger Woods (and one family member’s obsession with his ‘remarkable’ talents), Vinny Barbarino, seeing The Osmonds in concert, The Tony Curtis hairstyle, and the Friday night Love Boat and Fantasy Island combination that we lived for as children.
Then, like a lightning bolt from the sky, one particular pop-culture memory hit us. One we hadn’t thought of in a long time. This group had one huge hit, and many of you may not know it or even remember it, but trust me: this is a classic. This song was #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973. Enjoy and raise a toast to family vacations. We are all still laughing.
