  • Anxious for Spring

    February 9, 2019 /

Usually by the time March rolls around, I’m more than ready for spring. Unfortunately, for those of us in Maryland, spring really doesn’t begin until late April or early May. It’s been that bad for the last few years that I’ve still be in my tall boots on May 5. Today, I took a little time to get outside on my porch. I took a few photos of the porch in winter. It’s chilly, but I sat in the sun if only for a few moments and pictured spring…pictured it coming…and pictured bringing my laptop out to the porch to work. I have a beautiful office inside my home, but…

  • No More Blues with Blue Skies

    March 29, 2016 /

*** How do you get rid of the winter blues? You get blessed with a rich, blue sky, and stop for a moment to appreciate it. Today’s is extraordinary. It’s not warm just yet, but the buds are on the trees—some are even blooming, flowers are beginning to grow, and life is starting fresh again. The Easter season and spring bring a sense of renewal. It’s a time to make peace with yourself and with others, push yourself to be even better than you were last spring, and forge ahead as you make new memories. Consider doing some of those things on your checklist—go visit places you want to see,…

  • How To Build A Summer Wardrobe That Works

    June 24, 2015 /

    * * * One of the things people used to hire me for when I was a fashion stylist (along the lines of Stacy London), was to visit their closets, see what they had that worked, and recommend new wardrobe possibilities for them. Depending upon whether they stayed at home with children or worked for a living, I had to craft a shopping plan and then help them buy clothes that suited their body types. One woman in particular who recently had twins, was heading back to the work force, but not with the same body she had when she left. She could not fit into any of her old…

  • Snow, Spring and The Dad in Baseball Girl

    March 20, 2015 /

    * * * This picture above was taken minutes ago in my backyard in Maryland. It’s the first day of spring, and Maryland is “supposedly” in the South. Sometimes you wouldn’t know it. Like today, when the birds should be chirping and tulips should be starting to come to life. This weather is for the birds. And by “the birds,” I mean the Bay City Blackbirds in Baseball Girl. Won’t you consider hunkering down with a book written by a struggling independent author and see what happens in the love triangle among a ballplayer, a sports writer, and a woman who works in baseball before the official start of this…

    March 20, 2014 /

    * * * All day today, I lamented about the crappy weather. If you’re a snow lover, I’m sorry.  I like snow, but not this late in March. Then today, we experienced pouring rain. I sat in over an hour’s worth of traffic on my ride home from work; my ride in to work wasn’t much better. What could make everything a little better and a little more tolerable would be some sunshine and warmer temps. I grow weary of people who talk about the weather all the time, and I try to avoid doing so, but today I feel I must jump on the bandwagon. Enough is enough. Uncle.…
