Armed With Ideas: Thoughts on Moving

We’re moving.

Some of you who know me and live near me know this already. Some blog readers may not.

After four years of looking and debating, we’ve decided to take the plunge and head back to my roots in Severna Park.

I couldn’t be more delighted.

We tend to want to recreate for our own children the fond memories we have of our own upbringing—days spent on the Magothy River, hanging at the Ulmstead pool and beach, playing in the back yard, and smacking balls around for hours on the tennis courts. I had it good, as did my husband, and we can only do what we think is best. We are attempting to give them the best we can offer.

This is our choice. We’ve made it, and we’re sticking to it.

But now the hard part comes into play. The house we’ve purchased is 40 years old; it is not in the condition of what we currently own—a home with vaulted ceilings that’s been completely renovated, updated, and loved. Now we have the opportunity to alter this property and modify what currently exists. It will take time, patience, and money.

I feel badly for my husband, because I am now armed with ideas. You can blame it all on Pinterest. I have been pinning like a mad woman. Ideas are overflowing, and my husband is being bombarded with my imagination and creativity. Right-brained thinker meets left-brained thinker; Ms. Dreamer meets Mr. Logic. Luckily, we balance each other out.

I haven’t even moved in yet, and I’m already purchasing things for it. But don’t tell him.

Let him just see it on the Visa bill.
