    My summer break is finally here. As a college professor, we love our teaching, but sometimes a little down time is important. For months, people have been asking me what I’ll be doing this summer. My answer? Reading, writing, relaxing. There you have it in a nutshell.     I have to be inspired by my space when I write. Period. End of sentence. And while I’m still drooling over the notion of a writing shed in the back yard (dream on…dream on), I’m warming to my home office. It is by no means done; I’m still searching for a chandelier to replace the fan, and curtains might add a nice touch at some point, along with a cozy guest chair to sit near the bookshelf.     I don’t know if it’s because it’s spring (yes, it is by the calendar, though no signs of warmth, chirping birds, oodles of sunshine and flowers are in sight), but I’m obsessed with writing spaces and in what types of spaces we like to work. When I talk to other writers, it’s interesting to hear what kind of space inspires him or her. Some don’t mind the mess of books and papers, chalkboards and pinboards, or piles on the floor.
