Book Launch – Day Two Promo
It’s been over 24 hours since the book launch, and since then, I’ve heard words of congratulations, encouragement, and a few people who say I inspire them to tackle their own writing projects. These sentiments couldn’t make me happier. I hope I’ve inspired others to write and publish. That makes my day! Because there are 22 stories in the collection, and because I want to showcase them each in their own way, I’m going to share each story’s promo from The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry. I’m also busy setting up my press room on the site which will contain information about me and my books. Here’s today’s…

BIG NEWS! Book Launch Today! The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry
THE POSTCARD AND OTHER SHORT STORIES & POETRY- available NOW! Three years later, and today is the day. It’s a strange feeling to let this work go, because I’ve been holding on to all of it for far too long. At my father’s suggestion, I decided to put all of this work I’ve created over the years into one collection. I’ve included little stories to warm your heart or make you feel less alone; compiled a little book to take with you on vacation for summer reading; created something you can tackle and finish because the stories are all short, so you can read at your leisure. It took a…

My PR Person Is Tired
My PR person has been working really hard on and off all weekend to get my promos ready for this week as I get set to launch Book #4, The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry. She’s extremely tired and needs to go to bed, but she thought it might be a good idea to share a teaser ad from the collection of short stories. If you’ve never given short stories a try or if you often find yourself saying the phrase, “I never finish a book,” or “I don’t have time to read,” then this particular book might be up your alley. You will be able to finish…

A Sneak Peak at What’s Coming Next Week…The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry
If you’ve read Jojo Moyes’s book, Paris for One and Other Short Stories, or Rosamunde Pilcher’s The Blue Bedroom, then you’ll have an idea of what’s coming in my new book The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry. Heavily influenced by Rosamunde Pilcher as a young woman, and loving every story she wrote for The Blue Bedroom, I think I fell head-over-heals in love with writing—and wanting to tell stories—after reading her work. Her novels that followed such as The Shell Seekers, Coming Home, and September all inspired me to write stories where relationships and setting are the main drivers of the work. Likewise, Jojo Moyes has been a…

Unveiling the Cover of My Newest Book! The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry
This is getting exciting! After years in the making, within hours, my latest work of fiction and poetry entitled The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry will be available via Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Today, I’m unveiling and telling the story of the cover. But first I have to say…I love this part of the process. The part where it all comes together. The part where you get to see your work come to fruition. When I worked at the Orioles and was the editor of Orioles Magazine, I loved going to the printer’s and watching the magazine come off the presses. My heart would pulsate as my…

A Video Interview About The Postcard & Other Short Stories & Poetry
Well, you know what Eleanor Roosevelt said, right? “Do one thing every day that scares you.” When I was a mass communication major, I realized very quickly that I like being behind the camera more than I like being in front of it, which is why I gravitated toward writing. So, here I am taking a big leap and doing a little video about my upcoming book. That’s right…I’m trying to take my book promotion to the next level. LOL. Anyway, here’s the video about the new book that’s coming in July. I really hope you like it. WHAT’S INCLUDED? There are 22 total stories as I’m a couple…

The Postcard & Other Short Stories – Promotion
So while I’m super excited about this upcoming work, I made a mistake in my previous blog post and attached the work in progress jpg file of this teaser and not the corrected version. A good lesson to always double check your stuff. Sometimes we make mistakes as indie authors when we do it all and have a million things on our plate. But the good news? It’s all fixable. Here is the right promo. 🙂

A Little Milestone
A Little Milestone: I finished editing the short stories today for The Postcard and Other Short Stories and Poetry. It is almost done being formatted. This project–a couple of years in the making–contains 22 short stories I’ve written over a span of time. I have so much love for this collection for these particular reasons: they remind me of fragments of people I’ve met along the way in my life; they remind me to take the time to tell a story the way you think it should be told; and they remind me to never stop going for your dreams even when it takes baby steps and months or years…

Playing With Book Covers For An Upcoming Collection
I’ve started the editing process for my upcoming book entitled, The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry. So far, I’ve organized the stories and made a comprehensive list of what will be included and what is getting pitched. It looks like the book will feature 15 longer short stories, 25 pieces of flash fiction, and about 20 poems. Along with the organization comes the idea of what the cover of the book might look like. As a visual person, I need to have this in my head as I work toward completion. For me, the whole creative process of putting a collection together encompasses so much—the storytelling is at…

Become A Writer, They Said.
This one got me giggling. As I sat in my office this morning looking at all the short stories I am planning to include in my upcoming collection, I started to panic. The same thoughts go through my head as I start gearing up for publication. It sort of goes like the above meme as well as like this one below. We love to second guess everything we write. And worse than that, when a short story we wrote was written a while ago, we are so tempted to go in and change it. A lot of it. Mostly what I’ll be doing is fixing things — making them better…

What I’m Working On: My Summer Writing Projects
Two weeks remain until the close of the Spring 2018 semester. It’s been a very hectic, but productive one, and I’m eager to hear some final student presentations, read final papers, and complete the final curriculum of the year. I may take a few days off afterwards to smell the roses, go for a road trip, see the Blue Angels, and stroll around Annapolis and some Eastern Shore towns with my Nikon in hand—one of my favorite things to do. But I’m also looking forward to completing the writing and editing of my short story collection, tentatively titled THE POSTCARD and OTHER SHORT STORIES and POEMS. As some of you…
