  • If You’re Going To Call Me A Name, Let It Be This

    January 18, 2017 /

I’m 5’1″. I’ve been called short before, and a lot of other names, too, that I’d rather not recall. Nobody’s perfect. But now that I’m all grown up (debatable), if you are going to call me a name, let these words roll off your tongue: That girl is a hopeless romantic. That’s a nomenclature I hold in the highest esteem. I find the terminology particularly flattering, for in doing my research on what it means to truly be a HOPELESS ROMANTIC, these are the findings: Hopeless Romantics are NOT hopeless. Not at all. They tend to be very true, caring, and loving people. They believe in passion, chivalry, and true…

  • Fashion Friday & Food: Carrie Bradshaw ‘Romantic’ Style

    November 30, 2013 /

    * * * Today’s Fashion Look: The Romantic Style Years ago, when I was moonlighting as a fashion stylist, I would facilitate short seminars. I categorized women into four categories, primarily using the women from “Sex and the City” as examples. It’s an easy way to figure out what type of dress you prefer–and what you wear well. The four types are as follows: The Natural (as depicted by Miranda): Simple lines, natural fabrics, low on accessories, comfortable clothing. The Classic (as depicted by Charlotte): Pretty, classic, sometimes preppy & structured lines. Pearls and diamonds. Think Audrey Hepburn. The Romantic (as depicted by Carrie): Flirty, feminine clothes, that match, but…

  • Most Attractive Names Revealed After Poll—Did Your Name Make The List?

    January 6, 2012 /

*** I know I just blogged earlier today, but this study is fascinating. When I was driving to work yesterday morning, I heard the morning show I was listening to discussing this topic… Apparently, a group of Psychologists at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, conducted a survey of more than 47,000 people. The questions asked? What are the most attractive male and female names, as well as the most least attractive male and female names. The test polled these folks who are online daters to see how they would react to people’s names alone—without seeing a photo or any other additional information about the person. The results? Most Attractive Male…

  • “You think life is like living in a magazine.”

    June 29, 2011 /

I’m not sure if it was last year or the year before during our family vacation when my father offered one of his astute and memorable (and humorous) observations. We were sitting on the beach and I was romanticizing about the late afternoon time of day; we were some of the only folks on the beach and the sun was lowering in the sky. It was picture perfect. “This makes me want to have a clam bake on the beach, you know, like Martha Stewart would do,” I said. My dad snickered. “You think life is like living in a magazine. You think life is like ‘Sex and The City.”…
