The Grand Budapest Hotel: Worth The Visit
I haven’t seen many films this year, and that’s a crying shame for someone who claims to be a movie buff. Life’s kept me busy, so I’m looking forward to snuggling on the couch when some of these films hit OnDemand. However, I was able to sneak in Begin Again and The Grand Budapest Hotel. I loved both of the films, and we were treated to hearing Adam Levine and Maroon 5 sing Lost Stars from Begin Again on Oscar Night. I blogged about this after I saw the film, so you can read my impressions here. However, as for The Grand Budapest Hotel, do yourself a favor and book…

Blogging for the Annapolis Film Festival 2015
I’m absolutely thrilled to have been asked to be one of the bloggers for the upcoming Annapolis Film Festival scheduled for March. Having returned to the Annapolis area after residing in Baltimore and then Ellicott City for many years, it is my pleasure to promote such a worthwhile event. Likewise, my first novel entitled “Beneath the Mimosa Tree,” was set in my hometown, where I set out to glorify our beautiful city of Annapolis. In short, I have a love affair with our city, and am happy to do anything I can to help promote it. Therefore, there is no better way to pay homage to Annapolis than to participate…

Farewell, Eli Wallach
This hopeless romantic was very sad to learn of the death of actor Eli Wallach this morning. At 98, Mr. Wallach left this world, leaving behind a host of films for us all to enjoy. One of my favorite romantic comedies of all-time is “The Holiday,” and this scene is one of my favorites. He played the part of Arthur Abbott, a retired screen writer, in the film. Kate Winslet, visiting Los Angeles on her holiday, befriends him, and the friendship that ensues is the best relationship of the film. Eli was married to the same woman, actress Anne Jackson, for 66 years. In this clip, she toasts him for…

If you’re like me and will be staying home on New Year’s Eve, I’ve compiled a list of movies that might suit you for that night. You can pop it in and be done with it just before the ball drops and the celebrations begin in Times Square. I picked lighter movies that in some way depict New Year’s Eve. This would be my list… 5. About A Boy. Hugh Grant and Rachel Weisz star in this film. Grant meets Weisz at a New Year’s Eve party, but the story of the friendship with “the boy” is heartwarming and sweet. Hugh Grant is superb in this role. 4. Trading Places.…

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, I Don’t Look Like That At All!!!
I’m trying to figure out which photograph I want to use on the back of my paperback book cover. It’s one of those last minute decisions I neglected to make earlier in the process of being an independent author. Nevertheless, I asked my daughter to take a few shots with my new Nikon. We were testing backgrounds. When I saw the photo of myself, I stared. Do I really look like that? I must have a trick mirror at home, because when I look at myself in it, I still see a 30-year-old, not the more mature me that I’ve become. I’m already dreading my upcoming birthday, though we won’t…
