Fashion Friday, Week 1
Let me preface this with this statement: I just like fashion; fashion should be fun. Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved clothes. The semester has begun, and I think I’m going to attempt the challenge of a “no repeat” semester. Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t wear the same thing, it just means that if you do wear the same thing, you can’t wear it in the exact same way. Accessories, shoes, variations must come into play. I’m gonna give it a whirl. In my previous life as a fashion consultant, one of the things I preached was that you weren’t allowed to buy something unless you could…

A Little Fashion Friday
Next week, it’s back to campus, and back to being a little more professionally dressed than wearing leggings and jeans every day. It’s been a comfortable month, but I am always excited to see my students’ faces and be back in the classroom with them–and to have a reason to wear some of my new things to school. I’m hoping to post more fashion this year here on Steph’s Scribe besides just what I do for FROCKTOBER in October…I just love it. It’s my little thing I do for fun. I’ll be sharing my wardrobe on Fridays on Instagram (stephanie.verni), and I’ll post here, too, although sometimes I like to…

Sunday Casual Brunch | What I Wore
Time for a little fashion on the blog… Sometimes going out to brunch can be a very formal occasion. Other times, it’s a casual affair. When sitting by the water having Sunday coffee and a scrumptious meal, an outfit like this is just perfect. There’s no need to overdress; white pants and a cute top, a little bag, some gold hoops, and some sunnies are all you need. Love the detail on the top. Stephanie Stephanie Verni is Professor of Business Communication at Stevenson University and is the author of Inn Significant, Baseball Girl, and Beneath the Mimosa Tree. Along with her colleagues Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse, she…

What I Wore This Week | #FROCKTOBER Week 3
FROCKTOBER is full steam ahead this week, with lots of variations and different brands. Also, I want to talk about NEUTRALS, as some people have questions, such as, “Can I wear brown and black together?” Yes, you can. They are two neutrals. Just as you can wear grey and black, or black and tan, or even brown and grey (which can look quite elegant, actually), so can you blend neutrals. Blue is a neutral (think about your blue jeans…you wear them with anything, right?); therefore, you can mix your neutrals. Don’t be afraid to do it. It can look quite lovely. I’m a petite person, and as such, I stay…

FROCKTOBER Week 2 | What I Wore
In celebration of #FROCTOBER, I’m doing a quick recap of what I wore this past week. I’ve been posting daily on my Instagram feed (stephverni), and it’s been fun. It makes me think, though, because it’s a lot of pressure to post an outfit you think is good enough to feature as a Frocktober favorite. I’m a petite, regular gal, and the correct proportions of my clothing matters; it’s one of the things I learned when I became a fashion consultant. We tend to want to wear all the latest trends whether they suit us or not, but if our body type/size/shape/height doesn’t work for that trend, we have to…
