On the Eve of My Son’s College Graduation…
Well, the day has come. Our first-born child, Matthew, will be graduating from college tomorrow, so if you’ll permit me, I’d like to reminisce for a few moments. (You can also pass me a tissue…) So many of us are at this point in our lives. They always tell us that time marches on and waits for no one and to enjoy every moment you can. And yet, here we find ourselves embarking on a new chapter in our lives. We have raised kids and are beginning to (or some of you already have) send them off into the world. A Parent’s Thoughts on the Eve of High School Graduation & The Ellicott City Flood
Graduation Tomorrow All the standard thoughts apply today. “Time Flies.” “How did this happen?” “How is this even possible that time has marched by so swiftly?” Let me start with advice to young parents: treasure every moment with your children, because I was once like you thinking high school graduation was light years away. Now, it’s tomorrow. I’m so proud of Matt. He’s truly found his way in high school. News, Recaps, and Congrats to Many Today on the Blog
Gosh, life is busy, isn’t it? We’re all just pushing through each day trying to accomplish all that we can during the 12+ hours we are awake. That said, it’s been a busy April, as it often is in the university world. With three weeks remaining of the semester, the students are getting ready for their final presentations, papers, and pitches. I am excited to see what unfolds in the classroom. In the meantime, I don’t do this often, but I wanted to share some updates here on the blog. Congrats, Leeanne! I want to congratulate my colleague, friend, and co-author of Event Planning: Communicating Theory & Practice, Dr. Leeanne…

A Few Updates On This Rainy Saturday
Happy Saturday! It’s a rainy afternoon here in the Annapolis area. I’m a little disappointed in the weather because I was slated to watch my son’s high school golf match today, but the rain has postponed it. I’m very proud of him for making the golf team. He worked hard over this past year, practicing constantly, taking lessons, studying the game, and his hard work paid off. Way to go, Matt! Rainy days are great days for catching up on work or doing something completely unexpected or pleasurable. As for me, I’ll be involved in the former for a while—I’m one Powerpoint away from completing my part of the Event…

Random Thoughts on a Gloomy Day
When I put a call for help out there last night—WHAT SHOULD I BLOG ABOUT?—I got an answer from a friend of mine. She suggested that I write down random thoughts over the course of 24 hours. That’s a big challenge and a lot of hours, but I came away with these random thoughts and thought I’d share them with you on this very gloomy April day. My thoughts are below, but I also created a mind map–creativity and thoughts in action–and included it here. Golfer Ben Crenshaw’s wife looks amazing…Jordan Spieth’s poise and command was incredible to watch at this year’s Masters…I’m proud of my son for making the…
